We hope you can find an answer to your question here. If you would like to know more about us at The Jolly Hog or have a question that’s not listed here please contact us on [email protected]?

The Jolly Hog sausages and bacon are made with British Outdoor Bred pork. Free Range, Outdoor Reared and Outdoor Bred are all slightly different methods of rearing pigs. Outdoor bred pigs spend the beginning of their lives outside, then they are weaned and brought inside to airy, straw bedded barns. We ensure that all of our pigs are reared according to RSPCA Assured guidelines to keep standards of quality high.

We have a snazzy website tool which allows you to search by product and by postcode. Click here to find your nearest store stocking our Jolly Hog products.

The vegetable fibre used in The Jolly Hog sausages is sourced from bamboo fibre.

You can find the nutritional information and ingredients on the back of the pack and each of our product pages. Alternatively, contact us if you have any other enquiries.

All of our RSPCA Assured, Outdoor Bred British sausages, bacon and burgers are gluten free. Our gluten free sausages, bacon and burgers are all suitable for coeliacs.

Our British ham pulled pork & ribs do not have any gluten containing ingredients, but as it is made in an environment that contains gluten, they are not suitable for coeliacs.

Our British sausage rolls, cooked cocktail sausages and British Scotch Eggs are not gluten free.

All of our products are dairy-free apart from sausage rolls.

We use nitrates and nitrites in our British Bacon during the curing process. We believe our bacon is the best tasting on the market, but we are always looking at ways in which we can improve how we make our products.

Nitrites play a crucial role in the production of bacon and other cured meats. They are added during the curing process to improve flavour, preserve the meat, and inhibit bacterial growth, particularly the dangerous bacterium called Clostridium botulinum.

We use natural hog casings which is a more artisan butchers’ way of making sausages. We believe this creates a better tasting product with a natural curve and a better bite.

None of our products contain nuts.

The vegetable fibres used in our British sausages are sourced from bamboo fibre.

We use a friction smoke process, where the smoke is created by applying a friction log, I.e. a dry, solid squared timed of Beech, Oak, etc., which is pushed with pressure against an intermittently rotating, ribbed roller. The resulting friction is directed into the smoking chamber. This gives our lovely deep smoky flavour that we are known for in our Double Smoked Streaky Bacon, Smoked British Ham and Double Smoked Back Bacon.

Yes, our products are best eaten fresh, however they can be frozen for up to 9 months. However, you cannot freeze our Scotch Eggs.

No, we always recommend suggest removing them from the freezer and putting them in the fridge 24 hours before you eat them to ensure they are thoroughly defrosted.

Free Range, Outdoor Reared and Outdoor Bred are all slightly different methods of rearing pigs. Outdoor bred pigs are born outside and spend the beginning of their lives outside (10 weeks), then they are weaned and brought inside to airy, straw bedded barns for a further 5-7 months, before being sent to slaughter. We ensure that all our pigs are reared according to RSPCA Assured guidelines to keep standards of quality high for our Outdoor Bred Sausages and Outdoor Bred Bacon.

This means that all our farms have all been assessed and have been confirmed to have met the RSPCA’s higher farm animal welfare standards.
