BBQ sausage pizza recipe

Olly loves making a good BBQ sausage pizza recipe so last time we went round to his, of course he whipped out this pizza with sausage meat. Fresh and punchy, this homemade pizza recipe combines all the best flavours of Summer – fresh basil, our punchy peppery Proper Porker British Sausages, creamy mozzarella and herby pesto. Win win. Ingredients

For the homemade pizza dough recipe:

1kg strong white bread flour

14g dried yeast

20g salt

700g water 

For the toppings:

1 pack of The Jolly Hog British sausages of your choice (we love our peppery Proper Porkers or our sweet Caramelised Porkers caramelised onion sausages for a pizza topping)

Mozzarella 

Tomato sauce/ passata

Belazu Genovese Pesto (optional)

Basil

Method

• To begin this BBQ sausage pizza recipe, start by mixing the homemade pizza dough recipe ingredients in a food mixer to knead together for 5 minutes.
• Next, shape the homemade pizza dough in to a ball and place in a bowl that has a splash of olive oil.
• Cover with a warm kitchen towel. Fold every 30 mins for two hours. Then cover and put in the fridge over night.
• Take out and shape into x8 balls. Leave to rise again for 1hr before using. 
• Layer up the pizza with whatever your favourite sausage meat pizza toppings are. We’ve gone for our British sausages, mozzarella, passata, pesto, basil and mozzarella but you can mix it up! To make the sausage meat recipe, simply squeeze the meat out of our sausages and crumble the meat on top of the pizza.
• Put in the pizza oven until the sausage is cooked and crispy and the dough has risen!
